The Italian media believe he's heading for Gelsenkirchen.
It's the end of an era - 16 seasons and 323 goals for Real in all competitions takes some beating. Yesterday a huge crowd packed into the Bernabeu to wave him a fond farewell.
His place as a Real legend would seem to be assured, yet there were those who questioned his quality. Critics said he often failed to perform at the highest level - the stats say otherwise though. Surely it's wrong to suggest he was merely a goalscorer?
Not your average Sunday League player.
