He's still without a club according to an article in today's Scotsman. He says he is injury-free and feels he can play for another 3 or 4 years. It turns out his trial period at St Mirren ended after he picked up a 'niggling calf injury' in a trial match. Danny Lennon felt he could not risk offering him a contract.

Why would he? These sorts of injuries are notoriously difficult to clear up in older players (I'm a bit concerned Burke has one) and there are so many younger players still available for free. Patrick Cregg ex-Falkirk and Hibs is not fixed up yet apparently. When your last club paid a year's wages in return for one league appearance I don't think you're going to attract offers of similar wages.

Times are tight everywhere. Footballs just like industry at the moment. I,m sure there will be a lot of month to month offers at lower levels soon as opposed to longer deals(football). Works both ways i suppose. Hard to build up a team though if that becomes the norm

If you have a job you just sit on it despite wage freezes etc etc because there,s not a lot elsewhere.

Hopefully he,ll get fixed up soon. It was a shame injuries hampered his time at the pars.

When i spoke to him at the end of last season i,m sure he said he was a fair way down the road with his coaching badges. Maybe something will turn up as a player/coach for him.

I,m sure he has all the attributes to continue in the game. I hope he gets something fixed up soon.

A lot of these players have to realise that a rolling month - month contract is the best they are going to get. Football is in crisis too, with little cash to go around, clubs cant afford passengers, we have had a few in the past....
